A brief history of this long-standing guide to Vancouver Island.
This website started in 1998, a year before Google went live. Back then, two writers and adventurers, Jeremy Leete and Jim Amos, had an idea to create a website that showcased the natural and cultural splendors that they loved so much about their home.
Being adventurers, Jim and Jeremy eventually moved on to other locations and different dreams. At this point, Craig Dieno and his wife, June took over the day to day operations of running Vancouver Island Abound. He had met the former owners in early in 1998. They told him about the great Internet magazine that they had poured their hearts and souls into, showed it to me and asked if I could help them take the product to market.
After viewing it the website (which was then still a novelty), Craig was totally committed. What a great way to spread the word about SUPER NATURAL VANCOUVER ISLAND. A magazine on the Internet that reaches everywhere on the globe with just a click of a mouse.
Craig ran the website with professionalism and smiles. He grew the advertising base and concurrently grew the number of professionally writtern articles, adding to Jim and Jeremy's wonderful voice. But all great projects are eventuall passed on, and in 2011, Vancouver Island Abound was aquired by John Platenius, a website consultant on Vancovuer Island.
Today, John is excited about the future of the site, and looks forward serving the visitors to the website and the advertisers that support it. Happy browsing!
